I always find it helpful to start my day with a little java. It helps me focus, plain and simple, regardless of whether I’ve gotten 8 hours of sleep (rare), 6 hours (typical), or 4 (it does happen!). Lately, I’ve started to drink it black, in an effort to cut down on my daily sugar intake. Because if there is one thing I’ve learned over the years despite the misleading hype on fad diets and “healthy eating habits,” it’s that sugar really is pretty bad for you. I know most lawyers enjoy a cup or two of coffee to get them through their busy day, and I often start my on-site consulting engagements getting to know my new clients with a fresh cup of local grounds in hand.
